課程概述

本課程將就文化研究領域重要的理論家與重要辯論進行閱讀與討論,特別是文化研究不僅是源於1970年代的新的學術研究取徑,對於菁英文化與保守的社會體制的批判與反思,當時所發展的獨特的概念與方法,幫助我們更進一步理解社會制度、文化、商品與消費、空間與實踐、媒介與閱聽人等。並且文化研究理論開拓我們對於族群、青年、音樂、時尚、創意經濟、媒介化社會等議題有更深入的分析與理解,以及這段受到新媒體科技、流行文化、次文化、情感與個人認同的歷史,連結著一種以文化研究知識實踐的運動。在此領域中,援引各種文化理論,影響了社會科學學門,其中也包括傳播領域,特別從媒介文化、閱聽人流轉、媒介的使用與環境等。其次,配合新聞與傳播領域所關懷的領域,以文化研究的批判視野檢視新聞產製與再現、閱聽人、假新聞、社群媒體文化、平台化、文化產業分析、文化公民權等面向。 

課程目標
本課程希冀同學在學習過程中得以擴展觀察/理解/分析當代傳播與文化的現象,透過熟習相關理論、概念與案例的內涵與視野,並從結構與內容的問題,進行深度探討。透過課堂討論、心得反思與論文撰寫等形式,掌握文化批判視角解析當代傳播與新聞相關議題與現象。 
課程要求
線上教學平台:NTU COOL; Facebook混搭使用。請同學務必詳閱課綱、NTU COOL & Facebook,公告後3天內視所有人都已知悉。課程內容,可能因上課情況所有調整。

除授課者逐週準備材料及參與講述,課程參與者應該完成以下工作:

? 個人平時表現60%(包括出席次數、課堂綜合表現、導讀報告)

課堂參與(30%):
1. 本課程重視學生的出席率與課程參與,透過每次課程的討論、發表與交流是促進良好課堂的重要元素。請準時出席。學生一學期可請假一次(不扣分),從第二次起將扣分。若有事不能來,請課前告知助教與老師。除了必要查資料的時間,請盡可能不用電腦(因為電腦銀幕容易成為討論之間的屏障),有需要緊急連絡的事件,請直接到教室外面聯繫。
2. 口頭報告1-2次:(每週最多2人)
(1) 課程進行方式:由老師先講授課程並且與參與同學討論文獻中的重要議題與問題。
(2) 由同學報告,以該週主題、基礎文獻為出發點,延伸相關議題進行介紹,可以利用多媒材內容,並且以此議題,開發一個可能的研究企劃,口頭報告約15張PPT,包括所有引用的參考資料,課前一天晚上12點前將PPT檔上傳到NTU COOL課程平台。

3. 演講與活動心得:本課程預計舉辦1次演講、1次校外參訪活動,須至少擇一撰寫心得反思(約1000字),兩篇都寫則另期末加分。

每周閱讀與短評(30%):
1. 需針對每週讀物(選擇1-2篇),進行寫作一到兩頁的短評(A4 /2頁內),根據文本提出批判性與分析性的觀點,並且最後提出至少2個問題(上課討論)。
